 The Skinny on Art-Deco
       by scrapNgal
05/21/2010

Glamour, elegance, sleek sophistication…all terms used to describe the Art Deco art movement from 1925 through the 1940’s. Though the style is flamboyant, the structure of Art Deco is based on mathematical geometric shapes combined with an eclectic form of elegant and stylish modernism.

Influenced by modern aviation, growing interest in archeology, the end of World War I and entertainment such as cinemas and radio, wonderful examples of the festive Art-Deco style can be seen in the Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco, CA), the Chrysler Building (New York) and in the interiors of many old cinemas such as the Paramount Theater in Oakland, California. In fact, with the rise of the motion picture industry beginning in the 1920s, Hollywood’s Golden Era was greatly influenced by the Art-Deco style.

ScrapNfonts offers a variety of products that fit this style. Using these on your projects will not only create a clean, graphic look (perfect for titles and blocks of text), the free form lines and architectural elements will also add elegance and flair!
